They were abandoned and had no other alternative than to sell their bodies for survival. This is a film so stupidly & foolishly made to critique Hindu Society to which the filmmaker too belongs. It is to create sensation. Concubines and prostitutes were the way of life for European high , royal societies. Indians have great need to study authentic world history. Before commencing on such projects , students and film-makers all should carry out truthful and authentic studies on such chosen topics . THIS INDIA BASHING HAS GONE ON FOR TOO LONG. NOW JUST STOP THIS FARCICAL CHARADE! This message is to both such filmmakers as well as naïve & gullible audiences all over the world!Thanks.

Davadasi = di rekrut dari kaum paling rendah untuk melakukan ritual tarian kepada Tuhan agar dapat menaikkan harga dirinya dan martabat keluarga nya. Untung tidak dapat di raih !
